JAPAN TOUR Extension to NAOSHIMA
Following our fall 2022 tour, Japan Specialized Group Tours is offering an optional extension to Naoshima, a tiny, world famous island in the Japan Inland Sea. This is a contemporary art destination with an atmosphere like nowhere else. On the last day of our fall tour we will travelby train from Kashihara, arriving in Okayama before noon and lodging at the Mitsui Garden Hotel for two nights. After lunch you have two choices for your afternoon activity: first, taxi to visit to Korakuen, considered one of the three most beautiful Daimyo stroll gardens in all of Japan or a short train ride to visit Imbe Bizen Pottery Village. Bizen pottery is over 1,000 years old and one of six favorite styles chosen for Wabi-cha tea ceremony. Our next day will be spent entirely in Naoshima. We have arranged for a private bus to collect us from our hotel, travel to Uno port for the ferry, then take us around the island to visit the three must see museums and other sites. Our private bus will return us to our hotel in the evening. The tour ends on thefollowing morning. If you arrange a flight home from Haneda Airport after 5:00pm you will be able to return this day, otherwise you will need to stay at a hotel in Tokyo for the night and return the next day.
