May 3 - Arrive at Narita Airport. You will be met by one of our guides who will escort you to the Nikko Narita Hotel for your first night's stay.

May 4 - The buffet breakfast at our hotel begins at 6:00 am. Please bring your large piece of luggage to the hotel lobby when you come down for breakfast. It will be transferred to the second hotel in the Kansai region. Keep a small suitcase or backpack with essentials and change of clothes for two nights. We will catch the 10:25 am flight from Narita Airport to KIX Airport, arriving at 12:05 pm. You will have time for lunch at one of many airport restaurants. At this point, our Kansai guide Professor Yamazumi Ichiro will join us. A Private coach will pick us up at KIX. On the way to our hotel, we will stop at the Osaka Prefecture Flower Garden. Following this visit our coach will bring us to the Kanpo-no Yado Tondabayashi Inn in the Kawachinagano area. After today, lunches will be provided each day except on May 9th. Bottles of water will be provided daily as well. Dinner is provided by our inn tonight and tomorrow. This hotel has an onsen (natural hot spring bath) for your relaxation.



May 5- Breakfast begins at 7:15am. We'll gather in the lobby of our hotel at 9:00 am to visit the Kongo Mountain area. We will take the ropeway to the mountain peak where we will begin our explorations. In the afternoon we'll hike along the trail down the mountain while searching for wildflowers. We'll stop for lunch at a nearby restaurant. Most of our hiking days will end at about 4:00 pm. Dinner is at the hotel again tonight

May 6 - After breakfast, our private coach will take us to Kashihara city where we will explore Kashihara Jingu Park. In the afternoon, we head to the Tanzan Shrine area to hike. Next, our coach will take us to the Kashihara Royal Hotel where your luggage will be waiting. We will stay here for three nights. This hotel is located in a small city and there will be restaurants available in and around the hotel for you to choose from. Dinner is on your own for the next three evenings. Kazuo will provide you with 2000 Yen to pay for your meals. An onsen is available in this hotel as well.

May 7 - After breakfast, gather in the lobby at 9:00 am. We'll hike in the Akame 48 Waterfall area this morning. Lunch will be at a nearby restaurant. In the afternoon our private coach will take us to the Muro-ji Temple area in Nara prefecture.

May 8 - After breakfast, we'll head to the Soni Plateau to explore. In the afternoon, we'll hike in the Nara Caede no Sato area.

May 9 - After breakfast, we'll travel to Itami Airport near Osaka. Lunch is on your own at the airport. We'll board the 2:00 pm ANA air flight arriving at Sendai airport at 3:10 pm. We will take a local train from the airport to Sendai Station. Richmond Hotel Sendaiis a short walk from the station. We will stay here for four nights. dinner is on your own tonight and the next two nights.



May 10 - Breakfast begins at 6:30 am. For the next few days, you will be provided with 1000 Yen to purchase a picnic lunch each morning. After a 9:00 am meeting we will board our private coach to travel to Choro Lake. We'll circle the lake to view wildflowers in this area. We will be back at our hotel at about 4:00 pm to 4:15 pm. At 5:30 pm we'll gather in a conference room for a lecture given by our local guide in this region, Professor (Sensei) Ueno Yuki who will discuss the botany of the wildflowers of Miyagi Prefecture. Recently, he has published his book called 'The Flora of Miyagi'.

May 11 - We'll spend the day in Futakuchi Canyon along the Natorigawa river.

May 12 - Our private coach will take us about 40 minutes to the Taihakusan Nature Observation Forest where a forest guide will give us a tour of the region. A farewell dinner will be provided this evening at a restaurant in Sendai.

May 13 - The tour ends today as you check out of our hotel. Some of you will be extending the tour with a 3 day tour to Hokkaido led by Kazuo. We will fly from Sendai to Sapporo. Those of you returning to Tokyo by train will be accompanied by Asher to Tokyo Station. Your ticket from Sendai to Tokyo station is included in the price of the tour.
